Switzerland witnessed the French Revolution from the fringes, looking with awe across the border of its neighbouring country, where the Jacobins proceeded to cutting the heads of the discgraced ones with this new instrument, high tech of its time, the guillotine. Sometimes things get mimicked or transposed from the distance, or reinterpreted according to the prevalent local cultural patter. Oh boy can these patterns be thick. We went to a fact-finding mission to Switzerland and discovered the wurst-guillotine.
